Beginning with an investigation of the Greek myth of the Labyrinth and the Minotaur, Labyrinth uses fictional narrative as a tool to explore and evaluate the architecture of a single site across time. Set in Knossos, Crete, at the site of the original Minoan Palace and supposed site of the mythical labyrinth, a fictional narrative is developed spanning past, present, and future. This narrative overlaps with the historical timeline of the site and tells the story of an architectural deceit hidden within the underground labyrinth: a metaphorical Minotaur which takes the shape of a concealed radioactive substance, negatively affecting the inhabitants of the site without their knowledge. The consequences and repercussions of a single constructed choice are depicted in overlapping layers of architectural time: an understanding of the site and its secrets not in one captured moment, but across thousands of years all at once. A labyrinth not in space, but in time.
